In the mid-20th century, China's drilling tool industry was just starting out, with the one-piece drill bit, pneumatic leg rock drill, and carbon steel drill rods being popular at that time, laying the foundation for the future development of the drilling tool industry. By the 1960s, the demand for drilling tools in the mining industry was increasing, and China began to prepare for the establishment of drilling tool production workshops in steel enterprises. At that time, there was a strong production of rock drilling tools and hollow steel in the workshops. By the 1970s, the quality and production scale of drilling tools had qualitatively improved, forming batch production technologies for products such as one-piece drill bits and drill rods, meeting the needs of the mining industry.
Entering the 1980s, domestic infrastructure construction was in full swing, requiring a large number of drilling rigs. To meet the construction needs, construction units imported a large number of drilling rigs from abroad. At the same time, domestic research institutions also accelerated the research and production of their own drilling tool products, achieving certain results in drill rods and ball tooth drill bits. By the 1990s, the domestically produced drill rods and drill bits had exceeded domestic market demand and began to be exported overseas, although the quality of domestically produced drill rods made from self-produced hollow steel was not as good as that of foreign products.
By the end of the 20th century, the rise of advanced concepts such as enterprise management, brand promotion, and market marketing led to the development of the market economy, resulting in the emergence of more and more drilling tool enterprises. The drilling tool industry began to enter a period of market competition, promoting continuous development and improvement.
